Mexico: USA’s largest trading partner

Mexico’s trade with the United States rose to $414.21 billion through the first eight months of 2019. That’s 2.25 percent above its total trade during the same time period last year. Mexico is now USA’s largest trading partner. With a continuing USA-China trade war, a latent opportunity emerges for the North American countries to expand their trade ties and further build up their economies. Mexican exporters will need to have business and geopolitical vision to spot replaceable China-USA trade opportunities. American importers should add their southern neighbor to their supplier benchmarking list, as a means to replace tariff imposed Chinese goods. A strong trade relationship could stabilize and strengthen the North American region amidst a volatile world economy.
